Motul & Forza Motorsport

Motul Forza Nissan Nismo GT-R

Motul’s presence in motorsports dates back decades, with involvement in series like MotoGP, Rallycross, WRC, 24 Hours of Le Mans, and numerous others. In an effort to bring the excitement of our track-focused cars to the public, we’ve partnered up with Xbox to bring you three of our Motul livery cars in numerous installments of the Forza Motorsports series of racing games: the Nissan Nismo Motul Autech GT-R, Nissan #23 GT-R LM Nismo, and the BRM P201 F1 car.

2015 Nissan #1 NISMO MOTUL AUTECH GT-R

The Nissan Nismo Motul Autech GT-R made itself known in the Japanese Super GT Championship as one of Nissan’s flagship race cars. Unlike the production version GT-R, this race variant used a two-liter turbocharged inline-four that pushed 550 hp and 398 ft·lb of torque through a seven-speed transmission.

The Motul livery it wears in Forza Motorsports 7 was used in 2015 when the two Nissan factory drivers racing at Twin Ring Motegi rapidly advanced from 12th place to 2nd and brought the company a consecutive championship victory, with Motul 300V running strong through its cylinders.

The Autotech GT-R can be driven in Forza Motorsport 6 as part of the Polo Red Car Pack, Forza Motorsport 6: Apex as part of the Hyper Endurance Car Pack, Forza Horizon 3 as part of the Motorsport All-Stars Car Pack, and in Forza Motorsport 7 as a standard car.

Upping the racing ante is the 2015 Nissan #23 GT-R LM Nismo, specially designed for the Le Mans Prototype1 Hybrid (LMP1-H) class. What makes this particular Motul-powered car unique is the front-engine, FWD layout it uses, as opposed to the mid-engine layout used by most other cars in LMP1-H.

While it did not achieve victory at that year’s running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the envelope-pushing technology and design employed by Nissan are representative of the innovative developments we strive to reach in all Motul products. The GT-R LM Nismo can be driven in Forza Motorsport 6 since the November 2015 update, Forza Motorsport 6: Apex and in Forza Motorsport 7 as a Showcase reward.

Now turn the clock back to 1974. Motul sponsored the then-new BRM #14 Motul Team P201 Formula One car for that season at numerous Grands Prix around the world including the South African Grand Prix, Spanish Grand Prix, and the French Grand Prix. According to Rick Hall, owner of the restoration shop Hall and Hall and engine builder for BRM at the time, Motul oil treated the P201 better than other lubricants on the market.

In a 2021 interview, Hall was quoted as saying “…when we stripped back the engines, probably after they had been sat after a race meeting for a week or so, all the parts had a beautiful film of lovely amber oil. And everything was so clean in the gears and so on.“ The BRM P201 can be driven in the upcoming Forza Motorsport as part of the Race Day Car Pack.

Which one of these cars would you want to drive? Let us know!
